Montana Agate Pendant B
Montana Agate, also called Moss Agate due to the mossdendrite captured in layers of the stone. It is found n the area surrounding the Yellowstone River/Park; therefore also know as yellowstone agate. Volcanic activity that produced the conditions necessary for the formation of agate, spanned hundreds of miles and millions of years.
The main conditions necessary for agate formation, are the presence of silica from crystallized volcanic ash, water from rainfall or ground sources, and manganese, iron and other mineral oxides that form bands and inclusions. (red, black, brown inclusions).
I love the randomness of what is captured in the layers of this agate. That it took years and years of formation; I get lost when Ithink of the journey this stone took from land to studio.

All pieces are handmade and hand finished. Each piece is made individual made; each a one of a kind. Imperfection is inherent in natural products and those handmade. I take care in the maker process; however a variety of conditions may result in a piece with a slight mar or blemish. Most are not visible to the non-maker eye and I consider them all part of the creativemaker process.
